Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

joint credit card 6 years after divorce and pending bankruptcy

Greetings

We divorced 6 years ago, and in the divorce decree I agreed to assume all debts including credit cards.

I was able to pay off some, and kept payments up with one card. However, because of lengthy unemployment I can no longer keep up with the payments and want to file bankruptcy. The credit card company says they will then go after my ex-wife. Is there a time limit on this, since 6 years have gone by? The card has been 'closed' for more than two years, although i was paying the finance charges.

thanks very much

The statute of limitaions runs from the time of the last payment or wrtitten acknowledgemnt of the debt. The claim does not seem to be time barred.
