Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Judgement

Do I have a legal obligation to recording a paid judgement? I won a $3500 jugdement in small claims court against my X-husband. The judgement is paid. Do I legally have to notify anyone agency that he has met his obligation? Can he do this himself by proving he has paid the judgement? I don't want to spend my time doing this for him. Mel.

Re: Judgement

He should have required you to provide a satisfaction of judgment in return for his payment. He can bring on a proceeding to have the court issue a judgment satisfaction . The court may award costs against you for not cooperating. It would be much easier to sign the form he sends you.

Re: Judgement

Your obligation is to simply file a satisfaction of judgment (Florida law). To file the satisfaction, you will need to know the record book and page of the final judgment of $3,500. You do not have to pay anything to do this, just send it to the clerk of court.

Good luck.
