Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Judgement

In the year 2000, I requested that the car that I purchased be repossessed, due to voluntary termination of my full time employment. A couple of months ago I received a request from the financial institute's attorney to obtain legal representation, and to respond by X number of days in regards to the balance of the car loan. I corresponding myself, and said in the letter that due to my emotional health, I was working part time, receiving therapy from Catholic Social Services and taking medication for depression, and would be willing to pay $15.00 a month to satisfy balance. Last friday, I received a document giving my permission to place judgement on me for the loan. I can't afford an attorney, I do not own a home, my car is old and paid for. My question, what do I do? Agree or find a way to hire an attorney? I don't understand what a judgement is and what it means. I would sincerely appreciate your comments.

Re: Judgement

A judgment is a conclusive finding by a court that , in this case, you owe a certain sum of money to the bank and that the bank may use any allowable means to seize your assets to satisfy the judgment. Were I you, I would not consent to it. Rather you should consult with counsel..legal aid if need be, and be sure your rights are protected.
