Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
judgment and bank account garnishment
I have a judgment against me from a debtor. If i open a bank account, can the people i own money to simply take any money form the account as a from of garnishment? i dont want to open an account, deposit money and then have it gone the next day because of a law that says they can garnish bank accounts. Thank you.

Yes, unless exempt, it can be successfully garnished.

All bank accounts are subject to garnishment unless protected under specific state statute. Wages for the head of the household are exempt as well as savings including up to six months worth of wages which have been placed in savings providing they can be proven to be from savings.
