Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Judgment Recovery Licensing

I hold a county occupational license as a paralegal. When I submit an assignment of judgment to my courthouse that assigns a judgment from a client of mine to me, do I need to be a licensed collections agent even though I am merely recovering a judgment that has been legally assigned to me? Isnt it no different than the original judgment holder collecting it?

Thank you

Re: Judgment Recovery Licensing

Under Florida state law, if you own the judgment, you may be considered to be collecting your own judgment. However under the FDCPA, you would be deemed a third party debt collector.
