Junked car: not paid off?
So i had a vehicle, and a family member made all the payments, as it was a gift, but put the loan in my name with them as a cosigner. long story short the engine went out, and it needed more work.
I was told it was paid off free and clear, and was told it was going to cost more then the car was worth to repair it. so i sold it for a few hundred to one of those scrap/junk car guys.
Now im being told that the car was NOT paid off. It turns out the finance company served the cosigner with lawsuit papers (not me, oddly). So anyway now im wondering what the heck is going to happen to me?? Can i get in trouble?

You are probably going to get in trouble. You need to consult with an attorney as you typically have 20 days to respond to the lawsuit. Failure to do so could result in a default judgment against you.
