Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

i am a new landlord and i was trying to obtain pevious tenant information, the business (apt complex) said to fax a signature, i faxed the rental application with their signature and SSN. i now understand that was the wrong form.i have called the places to inform them i misunderstood the instructions, please shred. could i be sued or arrested for this? what additonal actions can i take to try to protect this information for the applicant? thanks!

You did not commit a criminal act, so no arrest would occur. You can be sued for anything, but one would have to prove damages. Relax, I do not see anything here.
