Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Law suit for balance of contract
Prior to my husband and I getting married, he voluntarily gave back a vehicle to Ford Credit because he had lost his job. Now A collection agency has sent us a subpena to respond within 20 days or we could lose the case. The lawsuit is for 14500. This could hurt if they garnish his wages,as they said they can do. What is the max they can take? This is based on his income and not mine? We were not married and I had nothing to do with the contract. Plaese advise what can happen and what our options are.
Thank you kindly.

It would be wise to hire a lawyer. Please contact my office with any questions.

You should consult with a lawyer in your area ASAP. Either you or a lawyer must file a response to the lawsuit in court within 20 days. You might be able to get an extension of time from the lawyer representing Ford Motor Credit. There may be defenses to the case. A lawyer can advise you.
