Do you need a lawyer to go to court with you if you are ask to appear for a debt collection?

No, unless you are a corporation ofr other legal entity. An individual is always free to rtepresent themselves.

I would recommend you see a consumer lawyer. Most of us will look at the papers for free to tell you if there is a good defense to the claim. Many times there are. Dio this before the hearing date!
