Lawyer's neglect of my case re: Promissory Note

I sent a lawyer a retainer fee of $5000 last September for a suit against person owing us $115K. Lawyer has not shown any progress. How do I ''fire'' him and can I get my retainer returned.

Whether any of the money is refundable would depend on the agreement you have with him.
