Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Am I liable?

Last year I had a car that was not running, had two flat tires and was parked on front of my home. After the president of the homeowners association came over to my home twice to ask me to get rid of the car because people were complaining about it. I looked in the classifieds and found an ad that said will tow away your unwanted car at no charge so I called them and they towed it away. I signed over the title to the guy that came over. Apparently he must have got the car running again because I have heard from a collection agency that it was towed away from some area about 30 miles from here and now they want me to pay for storage charges. I guess the guy never got the car registered in his name. Am I liable for any of this? They are threatening to put this on my credit report??? Please answer

Re: Am I liable?

Properly dispute the claim and do not pay the alleged bill. You should consult with counsel to learn of your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Re: Am I liable?

Since you signed over title I would dispute the bill.
