Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
life of a judgement
I had a judgement against me back in feb. 1987 as aresult of a car accident. according to the attorny, I made several payments that extended through 1989 then I stopped. my license was suspended. eventually, I had my license reinstated. then I received a letter from the attorny saying they are going to sue me again for the original judgement and the interest and if I don't pay they will resuspent my licence for an additional 20 years.
the question is can they do that? the judgement was recorded more than 20 years ago but they say since the last payment I made was less than 20 years ago then can.
thanks.

Yes, they can sue on the unpaid judgment and obtain a new judgment.
