Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I live in Florida and though I do not deny that I owe the debt I am being harassed by Cambridge, Huxley and Assoc of NY....I have received nothing in writing and I received a phone call this evening from a private courier who said that she would be serving me with some kind of papers between 2 and 5 PM and that I needed two forms of ID and a witness....I am willing to pay this debt but not to these people to the original creditor.....what should I do

You may receive a summons and complaint regarding the debt. Perhaps the debt

was sold or transferred to another party, or Cambridge, Huxley and Assoc are

representing the debtor. Regardless, you may have to settle the debt with the

new owner or representative. Often, you can settle such matters for an amount

similar to or even less than the original debt, depending on the circumstances.

But, until you know the nature of the papers being served, it is difficult to

evaluate your options. You could contact the original creditor and ask them

about the matter, and even offer to settle the debt.

You debt may be barred by the statute of limitations. If you pay anything then the time begins to toll again. sounds to be me they are out of time and harrasing you to get you to pay something so that they can toll the time again. Really need to know more but you should talk with an attorney about this before you do anything. Serving you with papers is just a roue' . If they knew who you are and where you lived why would you need to produce ID. The Sheriff will be the one to serve and they have a picture of your id from your driver's license. Be careful who you open the door to. This too could be something else.
