Lee, you may have a real problem here. You do not mention what state the loan was made in nor if it was in writting. All states have a certain period of time in which to sue someone. In Florida, it is 4 years if not a written contract and 5 years if a written contract. If they made any payments at all, it may extent the time period in which to file suit. It may be too late to sue them because of the time limit to file a case in court. However, if you were deployed out of the country for a period of time, the time limit to file a case may have been "stayed," which would give you extra time. Still, depending on the dates when you made the loan, whether there was a written loan agreement or not, where everyone was living when the loan was made, and other factors, it may be too late.
