Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Our medical provider is requesting we pay a medical bill from over a year ago, because it was denied by our insurance provider for being filed to late. The services were related a car accident that we were going to sue over, but later decided to not go through with the lawsuit due to having a poor lawyer who made the stress of the situation not worth pursuing a lawsuit. The doctor didn't file the any claims with the insurance company during the time we were getting treatment, because he said the insurance company would then get a portion of the settlement once the lawsuit was complete. Since the medical provider did not file the claims in time, are we liable to pay for these services now that it's been over a year? We live in Florida.
