Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
missed pretrial conference and judgement entered
The process server gave the
summons to my tenant who
speaks broken english. He was
not told what it was and did
not give it to me. A judgement
was entered against me. The
letters I received from the
plantiff's attorney have no
return address indicationg the
letter came from an attorney. I
thought it was junk mail. Thr
bill is from a dentist who
received $1000 for a $1500
bill. The sent me one
statement, then turned it over
to collection. Default
Judgement of $1093.13 was
entered (includes attorney
fees/cost)
Is there anything I can do?

It's legal to serve a tenant, and you shouldn't throw away your mail. You could probably call up the lawyer and ask for payments, but you haven't suggested any legal defenses.
