Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

My mother has taken out several credit cards in my name, and I have accumulated a debt of around eight thousand dollars as a result. My credit is severely jacked, and yet I have NO intention of pressing charges against my mother or putting her behind bars. I told my father ( her ex-husband ) about my situation, and he sent her a letter stating that he would be sending information to the appropriate authorities and whatnot, and that I might have to testify. I made it clear to him from the get-go that that I DID NOT want to press charges or anything of that nature, but he's telling me it's 'out of my hands.' I don't need you to tell me why I should press charges against my mother - I'm just not going to do it, case closed. All I really want to know is whether or not he can actually pursue an action against her, and how I can keep him from getting any deeper into this situation that is NOT his to deal with. Thanks.

The cards are in your name - you are responsible unless you prove otherwise.
