Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Named in a Foreclosure Lawsuit

My ex (never married) is currently in the middle of a home foreclosure and I am named as a defendant in the case. He owed me quite a bit of money in back child support, but I never collected because I remarried and my daughter was later adopted by my husband. We have had nothing to do with my ex for the last eight years, why would I be named as a defendant in this suit? What can I do to ensure that I am not financially liable to his creditors?

Re: Named in a Foreclosure Lawsuit

You may still be on the deed. Therefore it is proper for you to be a necessary party defendant.
