Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I opened a banking account with my father to be able to pay his bills for him. I have power of attorney and I sign my name with POA on all checks I write out. My mother has been put into a nursing home. My parents lived off of both S.S. checks. Now my dad is stating he can't pay the credit card bills. I cannot affored to pay the extra need to cover my mom's nursing home bill and their credit cards. Will my credit be hurt as well if my parents credit cards do not get paid? My mom is on Medicaid/Medicare. Her S.S. check is 461.00 a month her nursing home bill is 544.00 and they have to leave 35.00 for her toiletries each month from the 461.00. Since she is poor this the third nursing home she has been moved to within a year. Each nursing home do all this theraphy that her insurance pay for and as soon the insurance company stops paying they want her moved to another nursing home. She is 69 and had a brain injury and signs of alzhimers. She doesn't bennifit from all this theraphy but it keeps her busy, I guess??

Not as long as your name is not on the credit card.
