Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

outstanding debt and received letter from law firm

I have had a cc years ago and then lost my job. I then called my other cc's and made arrangements to pay them what I could, they agreed, except this one! I moved a lot (military wife) they now contact me (2 1/2 yrs later) and tell me I owe $10,000 more then what I owed then. I do not work and live in Florida and received this card in Fl back then. What can I do since I haven't paid anything, but was never late when I gave them what I could when I did work back then. They were the only cc company that would not work with me and honestly with no contact and moving around, It was put on the back burner. I have to contact this firm in 30 days. I will offer them something, but nothing close to what they want.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

You have actually answered your own question. Do not ignore them but instead try to work out a repayment schedule that you can live by. If you don't, you will have to face the reality of the possibility of the company taking you to court for to collect on the debt.
