Can they take my paid off car?

I may have to go to court for c. c. debt. I'm already losing my house, am unemployed, my only possession is my old Nissan 2002 already paid for years ago.

As I'd like to keep my car to continue to look for work, can they take it away in a judgement should it come to that?

Yes, but... not necessarily. It matters how and when. If this is the initial lawsuit, no. If this is an action to enforce a judgment, it's probably time to declare bankruptcy to protect the one asset you still have.
