Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Parent's Credit Card Debt
My parent's have a significant amount of Credit card debt which I am currently heling them pay by giving them half my salary each month (no official record-i just give them a check each month). After they pass away, can I be liable for their credit card debt? They currently have a home equity loan and my name is on that account as well so I'm guessing I'd be liable for the home equity loan.

1, No
2. If you signed for the loan, you are responsible to pay it.
Re: Parent's Credit Card Debt
The answer is NO/1 and YES/2. I'm assuming you are giving the check to your parents. Otherwise, caution on what you write on the checks. If your checks are sent directly to the credit card co., and you want to be overly cautions, send them a brief letter stating that you incur no obligations by paying the debt. As to the equity, you are on the point. Pay; it's your debt.
