Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Been paying on a credit card since 2007, I was taken to court for a credit card dept. The court ordered me to pay a 7% interest rate. I have been paying a $50.00 a month with means the amount owed will never go down. I have called the company numerous times to try to work out a deal with no interset. I am never late on my payments. I have payed a total of $1950.00 to them. The orginial amout of the credit card was 2,000. When it went into collections the amount owed was over 8,000. Is there anything I can do with this? Should I stop the payments and go back to court?

Unfortunately, the time to have a lawyer help you was when you were sued. Now you have a judgement and the interest rate is statutory. The credit card company is never going to negotiate this in all probability. Bankruptcy may be your only answer. FOR ALL OF YOU WHO READ THIS NOTE, SEE A CONSUMER LAWYER IF YOU ARE SUED IN A CREDIT CARD CASE OR ANY COLLECTIONS CASE. WE DO WIN THESE CASES AND MANY TIME GET OUR FEE FROM THE COLLECTOR. IT IS TOO LATE IF A JUDGEMENT IS ENTERED AGAINST YOU FOR THE MOST PART. Want to know the law?
