Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I purchased an airplane ticket via a travel agent. I called the travel agency back to see if I could cancel my ticket and get a refund. The travel agent said that it would be a charge of $250 for the cancelation and the rest would be refunded($1381). After getting the verbal confirmation and email cancelation form from the agent, I purchased another ticket knowing that it was canceled. A supervisor called a day after to inform me that the ticket could not be canceled and that they did not charge the $250 cancelation. From what I understood, the agent made a mistake with the cancelation. I was told by the supervisor that I would have to pay the whole total and that the cancelation charge will not be processed. At this point, I felt like I was being ripped off and canceled my card and disputed that pending charge. This charge has disappeared from my charges now. Am I responsible for this payment if the agent made a mistake? Another agent told me that this agent was inexperienced. They have the Recordings of the cancelation call and I have the cancelation email from them.

Maybe. It depends whether the credit card company determines that your disputed charge is the merchants responsibility under the credit card issuers rules that govern disputed charges.
