Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I purchased an item from a website from a person living in Massachusetts. I sent a US postal check via registered mail. He signed for it but never sent the item. I found out his email and sent his a letter stating that I wanted my money back. He made many excuses why he didn't send the goods. However, he said the check is in the mail. It never came. The amount is $125. I would like to know what my options are to get my money back.....

Contact state attorney in person's area and report what happened.

Stop payment on check if you can.
