Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Hi my question is about wage garnishment by the goverment for a home i bought from department of aggreculter when i was 18 and married. I divorced left the house with wife who let it forclose after less than 1 year. so the goverment has been taking my taxes every year for over 7 years then stoped. now out of the blue my work calls me and said they have a letter to garnish my wages for this, i barley bring home 300 week, have 2 kids at home and a wife i support (barley). can they do this what can i do and how much can they take. i never recieved any letter from them. my ex wifes name is on the loan but she wont work should the debt be split with her. help desperate dad trying to feed kids.

Being head of household will exempt you from having to pay anything towards this debt. I suggest you get an attorney ASAP - the fact is they may owe you money for not mitigating the damges when they took back the house - meaning if they sold it on the market at a loss and did not try to recap the loss at the sale, they may owe you.
