Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Received summons, what do I do?

I have received a summons for a debt I did not pay (could not pay), I have been working with a Debt settlement company and I do not have enough money to settle on the account yet.

I feel like i have been mislead by the debt settlement company, I have been paying them so much a month to handle my case but now they are saying they can't do anything...

I am now told I should get an attorney but with all the bills, medical bills and money I am already paying to the debt settlement company, I am not going to be able to afford it.

I am worried if I file bankrupcty, I will lose my home. I live in a manufactured home and pay lot rent. I have wife and child, with another on the way.

Any Advice?

Retain counsel. In all likelihood a bankruptcy petition will be appropriate. Before making that determination a personal interview is necessary. Don't waste time. I believe my office is too far for you, so find a competent attorney in your locale.
