Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I rented a car in feb. 09 in new hampshire. Now the company is calling me stating that they never received payment from my bank. I sent copies of my statement showing that it was paid but now the manager is threatening to get a warrant out for arrest for in debt. I don't live in that state and I am nowhere close to there. Can they come and arrest me where I'm at?

Under Florida law, they couldn't get a criminal warrant issued for that unless they could prove you never intended to pay for the car, even when you rented it (a tough thing to prove). Then it would be theft. But since this happened in New Hampshire, you'll have to check with a New Hampshire lawyer.

If a New Hampshire warrant is issued, it will probbly be placed in the national computer system (the NCIS). It's not likely that the sherriff's department in your county will actually come to get you (although it's not out of the question), but it is possible that you'll be taken to jail if you are pulled over or otherwise come into contact with law enforcement somewhere. Get a New Hampshire lawyer and get this straightened out.
