Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Responsibility to creditor when another used credit card
My son used my credit card to charge us a large debt w/o my permission. The credit card co. wants me to file charges which I fail to do. They are coming after me for the large debt ($26,000) saying I am responsible for the debt. What are my chances of getting out of paying and is bankruptcy an option if they win an arbitration?

bankruptcy will get rid of the debt whether they win a judgement or not. If your son used your card without your permission you should still file a written dispute with the company to start a paper trail. Anthony Comparetto, Esq., 727-328-7900 www.helpwithlaw.com

The c-c company's efforts stand a good chance of success. Your failure to report, although laudable as a parent, may not be sufficient in court.
Whether or not the c-c company wins, bankruptcy is a viable choice for you.
