responsibility on a stolen vehichle

i had a jeep that was stolen in may 2006, i've been making payments because the insurance company says i didnt have the right coverage. i cant afford it anymore. am i still legally responsible to finish off this auto loan. i really need help.

Yes. Under the terms of your auto loan, it's probably your responsibility to insure the vehicle against theft and damage. If the vehicle is recovered, it'll be returned to you or if it needs to be sold, the loan company is obligated to credit your account with the proceeds of the sale.
