Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Am I responsible for a debt that was in my decesed husbands name
In the state of Florida, my sisters husband purchased a special bed. It is in his name only. Her name is not on the contract. He passed away last year. The balance is $850. She only recieves $60 a month and food stamps. The collection company is threatening her to come take her mobil home that is paid off and attached to leased land and sell it at auction. Is this legal in the state of Florida.

No, you have absolutely no liability. Tell them they can have the bed if they like. They are prohibited by law from making false threats to you about taking your mobile home which is protected by the Florida Homestead laws.
