are you responsible for deceased spouses bills such as credit cards with only he

If spouse is passed away are you responsible for credit card bills with only their name on the card. Am I held responsible for those debts, or do I just notify them of the death?

Generally, the answer is no however the deceased's estate, if any, is responsible.
