Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Am I responsible for a loan my husband took out before we were married?

Before we were married, my husband took out a car loan but due to an accident (after we'd been married) the vehicle was ''totalled'' & we had to purchase a new car. We were unable to continue making payments on the previous loan & they refused anything other than the monthly payment amount. My husband went to small claims court & the judged ruled in favor of the car company ($3500). He's now received a ''notice of taking deposition'' which is asking for all bank records, vehicle registrations, tax info and deeds...all of which my name is on. Since he defaulted on the loan after we were married, can they also hold me responsible? Our home is currently on the market to be sold, can the court force us to pay them from the proceeds of our home sale?
