Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Rights of cosigner against primary signer

I cosigned on two student loans for my ex son-in-law. He is dafaulting, and I recognize my duty to the lender. May I file a claim or lien against any of his assets? He lives in California and has real propertry in my home state of Florida.
