Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Roommate Dispute
About a year ago I was living in a
house in miami with two other
roommates, we had direct tv and it
was under my name. I ended up
moving back to new york later on,
but left the direct tv in my name. It
turns out once i left my roommates
never paid the bills, so i am not in
collections, when i asked them to
pay they refused.
Is there anything i can do here??

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
Unfortunately, as you have found out, you are responsible to pay the outstanding amounts. Once you do, you can try and ask the other roommates to repay you. If they do not, you can take them to court to try and get them to pay or in the alternative, you will get a judgment against them.

Re: Roommate Dispute
You owe the money since the contract was in your name. You can try to get the funds from your ex roommates since they owe you a portion of it (if that was your agreement).
