Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Seized Property

A lawsuit has been filed against me by a collection agency as successor to a creditor I had opened a credit card account with. The lawsuit claims that if I do not file a response on time, I may lose the case and my wages, money and property may thereafter be taken without further notice from the Court. I would like to know if the plaintiff has a right to file a case for credit debt and will my property be seized. Also, if I file for bankruptcy will it effect my payments towards buying my house? I would like to know what my rights are. The reason I could not afford to pay my credit card payments was because I had to use the whole credit line in order to pay for a death in the family which of course was unexpected.

Re: Seized Property

Only the debtor's non-exempt assets are subject to being taken to satisfy a judgment.

I urge you to immediately consult with competent counsel. Do not default.
