Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I set up a website for a company, the owners name, business address, all phone numbers and email address are on it. My email address with the company was on it as well for sales purposes. I received and email with an urgent message for the owner and his wife to call them immediately concerning a legal matter, was from a Professional Judgement Recovery Solution business.. I replied that it had nothing to do with me, was a private and confidential matter, they had no business contacting my email address at the business . I thought it would be done with, they proceeded to send another email saying it was not a private issue and went on with more info. I again responded it was not my buisness and the fact they were trying to recover a debt was a personal matter. I then received and email addressed to the owner and his wife, which I answered. then another to just the owner, each time I made it clear was none of my business and I considered them harrassing me. They told the owner I was extremely nasty to them, and surely would cost them business because I did not give them her urgent message... They belittled my character...I feel very much that I was being harrassed by them trying to make me a part of an issue they had with the owners I feel that was private....
I told her to stop emailing me, but she continued... Is there some way I can file a complaint against this company? I am appauled by the level of unprofessionalism this company is showing. I was told all of the correspondances went to their legal department (don't believe there is one), I have been made to look like a horrible person to the owners because I have objected to the way they handled this matter, Still believe even though the owner has a business and may be facing legal issues or bad debts, none of it is the business of the employees and they should never be contacted. Am I wrong for feeling this way? I was not going to even tell the owner I was contacted, felt they may be embarrassed at the thought I might know some personal issues going on. This woman CC'd all the emails to them, now I will discuss with them... If what they have done is inllegal we need to know...

I'd have to see the emails to see if they've violated any state or federal collections laws, but it sounds like you've handled things correctly. I probably would have just ignored them.
If they cost you business because, say, you lose the contract with the business owner, you could possibly sue the collections company for defamation or for tortious interfernce with an ongoing business relationship.
