Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I Sheriff has been by to pick up our truck for old cc debt but I was out with the truck at the time. This is our only means of transportation and cannot afford to lose it. The cc company is demanding $2000 and then will due payments. We have no idea what the balance is and they won't tell us till we pay the money or the vehicle is picked up.
My husband just recently got a good job but cannot be without a vehicle. If we trade this in for another vehicle that we would now have payments with and be upside down, can we get in legal trouble?

You are not likely going to be able to trade in this vehicle, since the CC company already seems to have a court order to take possession of the vehicle.
The debt collector must give you an accurate accounting of the debt that is owed. Consult with a consumer advocate attorney in your area. You can search for one at www.naca.net
