Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

My sibling recently passed and while going through his bills I noticed that a credit card was opened for a long period of time under my father's name and he had no knowledge of the card. My brother closed the account a few months ago but there was a balance left on the card and he was paying on it, the name on the account remained under my father's name. He is 81 years old, how can I get this resolved without damaging my father's credit. There is a past due account of approximatly 30 days. Is there something that I can do to get this resolved. My brother passed in June 2009

You can either pay the card (or have someone else pay it), or report your deceased brother for identity theft. You'll have to prove the identity theft or the credit card company will go after your father.
