Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I signed a contract for a credit card processing machine in 2004. After trying to cancel the contract and being denied, they have now decided to sue me in civil court. The thing is, I singed this contract where I live, in Florida. They say that jurisdiction is in Cook County Illinois and they will sue me there. I thought the litigation has to be where I signed the contract, not the company office in another state?

Contracts often contain what is called a "forum selection clause". You may have signed a contract that contains a provision providing for Cook County, IL as the proper forum for any dispute. If you have a copy of the contract by any chance you should thoroughly review and consult with an attorney.
Best of luck
