Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Social Security Lien
Does a credit card company or a collection agency have a right to ''garnish'' your social security? I have a company who keeps threatening to do so.
Thank You

Re: Social Security Lien
Social security income proceeds are exempt from garnishment, and a garnishment action cannot commence until after a judgment has been entered against you and in favor of the plaintiff.
I may be able to help you.

No.
Such threats may form the basis of a claim under the Fair Debt Collectioon Practices Act
