If your spouse has credit card debt in her name alone and she passes away. Is the husband then responsible for that credit card debt?

Typically not but you would have to have an attorney look at all of the facts of the situation.

Usually not directly. However, the wife's Estate could be responsible for the debt, thereby reducing certain asset flow to the spouse. Someone in that situation should consult with a probate attorney or a consumer debt attorney and get information specifically related to their facts.
