Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Is Spouse Responsible for Deceased Debt

My mother in law's husband passed away in 2005. She's been contacted by a deceased debt company. She's in FL. Her husband owes credit card debt. Is she responsible and can any of her dead husband's assets be liquidated to cover his credit card debt?
