Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Summons for credit card debt
My daughter was served with a summons regarding a Discover Card bill which she has been unable to pay. She lives in Atlanta, GA but incurred the debt in Florida. She has $30,000 in school loans to pay and really has little extra money. Would appearing in court to plead her case in front of a judge be her best course in this type of case? How about mediation or arbitration? She owns very little (car not worth much, very little furniture). In which state would she have to appear?
Thanks
