Til Death Do We Part ???

My son was recently involved in a auto accident and passed away after 11 days in the hospital. His widow is recieving bills from the ambulance service, evac helicoper, hospital and doctors addressed to my son. As these bills are addressed to my son, and the two have parted, is she liable?

Does he have health insurance to pay for these bills? If an estate will be opened to bring a personal injury or wrongful death claim, than his estate should be liable for the claims, but not his wife. In addition, his personal injury attorney would be able to negotiate those medical bills with the providers upon settlement of his case. Feel free to call me with any other questions.
