Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Transfering Small Claims Judgement to another state
I sold lawn care equipment to someone and a contract was written and signed. He did not honor the contract and I received a small claims judgement ($3,000 plus costs)on May 18th, 2004 in Ohio. This person lives in Florida, and I was told by the small claims office in FL that the judgement could be transfered, but that they could not give me information on how this in done. Can you help me?
Thank you

The procedure is called "domesticating the foreign judgment."

You will need to get a certified copy of the judgment and get it filed down in Florida. I would suggest that you get the certified copy and contact an attorney in the city the debtor resides to have him\her record it and then make efforts to collect.
