Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Unauthorized Credit Card Charge!

I was issued a credit card that covers medical service purchases only. I never used or authorized the use of my credit account to anyone. The problem is that my doctor charged my credit account for his services to me, without my knowledge, electronically, an amount that I did not approve. He did so without my authorization by copying my signature off of the paper forms that I had filled out when I first visited his office. He pasted my signature on the charge ticket and transmitted it to the bank for payment. As instructed by the bank, I made monthly payments to my credit account during the dispute investigation period.

In conclusion, the bank reversed part of the charge only, but challenged me to prove the signature pasted on the charge ticket was fake. I stopped making payments on the account altogether for I believe the entire amount charged should be reversed because it was unauthorized. What recourse do I have to accomplish this?

Re: Unauthorized Credit Card Charge!

By stopping your payments on the credit card, of course you've now put your credit at risk and the bank will come after you for the money.

You could report the doctor for bank fraud and, if you don't really owe the doctor the money, you could sue him. If you do owe the doctor the money, you haven't really helped yourself by not paying on your own card.
