Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
verbal contract
My friend agreed to rent an apt. with me. She was going to be out of town at the move in time. She said she would pay me the rent when she returned and moved in. There was no lease on this apt. I paid my share and moved in. She returned and said she changed her mind. I now am responsible for her part of the rent. I feel she should pay me for the first month as she did not give me amble notice to find another room mate and I can't afford the whole rent. She says I have nothing in writing so to bad. I have the landlord and several other people as witness. Her parents also know she agreed and changed her mind but back her up. Can I take her to small claims on a verbal contract in Florida and do I stand a chance or is it a waste of my time and money? She is 21 years old. thank you

You can sue. I suggest you consult with an atty in your locale.
