I defalted on a car loan in 2002. Been trying to pay 100.00$ a month seince november 2004. missed a few payments due to uncontrollable cercomstances.collection agency called me today demanding that i pay ther settlemet price or legal action will follow.also requested that i asked a family member for the moneys. plane and simple I dont have 7,000$ and assets well not much. I would like to pay the debt but they want ther moneys now.I Have two kides and married. I cant afford for my wages to be garnished I struggle know. please help

Your wages are probably exempt from garnishment. This does not mean they cannot be garnished. If they are, you will need request the court quash it because of the exemption.

Do not be intimidated by the collector's improper actions.

You should consult with an attorney and review your financial status. The expense may be quite worthwhile.
