Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Wage garnishment across state lines

I own a Tennessee company. Recently I received a ''Continuing Writ of Garnishment Against Salary or Wages'' on one of my employees. It is from a county court in Florida. Am I required to respond to this even though it is not in Tennessee?

Probably not, if you don't do any business in Florida the FL court probably would not have jurisdiction over you. If you do business in FL, it you might need to respond. Feel free to call me with any questions.

The order of the County Court cannot be enforced outside the state. Unless you have a presence in Florida, the orderis a nullity.
